Robert Oliver, Jr. Way

Robert “Tack” Oliver, Jr. (1927–2021) was an active member of the St. Albans Community, and a U.S. Army veteran who worked in transportation during World War II and the Korean War. He served as the Financial Officer of the St. Albans Civic Association as well as the 195th Street Association, and was financial officer and treasurer for multiple organizations and businesses throughout Southeast Queens and the South Carolina communities he worked with or volunteered with, like the Veteran of Foreign War & American Legion Posts, the Parent Leadership Institute Inc., and Benjamin Moore American Legion Post of 1946. Oliver was a prolific bowler and served as secretary for the bowling leagues he was a part of, including the Long Island Total Pins and the Elderstatesmen.

In 1959, he joined the New Covenant Church of Christ in Queens Village and became a lifelong charter member, served as Treasurer, and became President of the Usher Board. Before his passing, he served as the residing Chaplain for the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post of 1896. Together with his wife Martha, Oliver helped shaped the community of St. Albans, hoping to create generational wealth, wisdom and stability since purchasing their first home in the area in July 1961.
