Melody Anne-Simone Edwards (1999 - 2017) was killed in a tragic Queens Village house fire during a visit to a friend’s home to tutor one of the children living there. The 17-year-old Edwards was an Arista National Honor Society member, track and volleyball star, and prospective graduate at the Queens High School of Teaching. The bright and talented Edwards was a mentor to her peers who led by the example of her character in the Queens Village and Cambria Heights community.
