Officer Anthony Abruzzo Jr. (1947-1981) lived in Flushing and served with the New York City Police Department for 13 years, assigned to the 109th Precinct.
He died trying to rescue his father-in-law who was being attacked by three men in front of his home. Office Abruzzo was shot in the chest and died from his wounds. He was survived by his wife and one child.
