Abe Miller Way

Abraham W. Miller (1922-2019) was born in the Bronx and attended his first Yankees game at age five. After serving in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII, he worked for the NYC Transit, designing train overpass bridges, including one in Forest Hills.

Miller was deeply involved with the Forest Hills Little League and the Forest Hills Youth Activities Association. He wrote weekly baseball articles for local papers, including the Long Island Press, and served as a player agent, setting up the league schedule for over 700 children. Miller enforced Little League rules, secured sponsors, and eventually became the league president. He also became Chairman of the Board of the Forest Hills Youth Activities Association, running summer programs for the entire Queens district.

Under his leadership, the Association raised funds to build its own clubhouse at the fields, now named the Abe Miller Clubhouse. For his community work, Abe was honored by the NY Mets, Staten Island Yankees, and Brooklyn Cyclones. He also helped former Little Leaguers volunteer their time with the league and wrote recommendation letters for their college applications.
