Alejandro Nino Place

Alejandro Nino (d. 2010) was a dedicated community member, serving in various roles throughout his life. He was a member of the City Volunteer Corps, a therapy aide at Coler Specialty Hospital, a maintenance worker for the Department of Parks, and an assistant at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.

Nino was raised in a Colombian-Cuban household on 49th Street and had lived in Woodside since 1981. He served in the Army National Guard until 2007, when he was diagnosed with cancer and honorably discharged. Nino lost his battle with the disease in March 2010, at the age of 36.
