Joseph (Joe) Hennessy (1938-2020) was a community advocate who served as Chair of Community Board 6 (Forest Hills and Rego Park) for over two decades. He also served as president of the Board of Directors for the Forest Hills MHA Housing Development Fund for more than 30 years, and was on the board of the nonprofit social service organization Queens Community House. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and various church organizations. Hennessy immigrated from County Cork, Ireland, in the 1950s and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He worked for the yellow taxi fleet company Team Systems Corporation for more than 50 years, becoming general manager. Hennessy died of COVID-19 in April 2020.
