Detective First Grade Moore Way

Detective Brian R. Moore (d. 2015), a promising officer with the NYPD's Anti-Crime Unit, was shot and killed while on duty in plainclothes on May 4, 2015 in Queens Village. Only 25 years old, he was just a few months shy of his fifth year on the force.

Appointed on July 6, 2010, Moore began his career in the 103 Impact Zone of Queens South. He later transferred to the 105 Precinct in May 2012. Throughout his service, he earned two Excellent Police Duty medals and two Meritorious Police Duty medals for his outstanding police work. He also made a commendable 160 arrests.

In the wake of his tragic passing, Commissioner Bratton posthumously promoted Detective Moore to the rank of Detective First Grade.
