Lawrence E. Lynch (1906-1945) was assigned to the 69th Infantry Regiment during WWII. He offered comfort to the wounded and gave last rites to hundreds of the 20,000 American soldiers who lost their lives in the battle of Okinawa. He was killed in battle on April 25, 1945 while reading the last rites to a mortally wounded soldier. Father Lynch was 38 years old.
